Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive Srinagar

Welcome to your Magical Kashmir Monsoon tour! Arrive into Srinagar airport from where you will be transferred to one of the boarding points – ghats- on the Boulevard Road and taken in a shikara to your houseboat on the Dal lake.
Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated in the Kashmir Valley and lies on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus. The city is famous for its gardens, lakes and houseboats. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dry fruits.
In the evening proceed for a shikara ride on the Dal lake.
Return to the houseboat after the ride.

Day 2 : In Srinagar- Excursion to Gulmarg

This morning proceed to Gulmarg driving past willow trees, fast flowing streams and lush green meadows. Gulmarg – the ‘meadow of flowers’ is an apt term for this idyllic flower-laden spot offering a spectacular view of towering snow capped peaks covered with dense forests of tall conifers, gigantic firs and pine trees. Take a leisurely stroll or pony rides (on direct payment) across the green meadows to one of the world’s highest Golf Courses. You may wish to take a fun-filled ride in the Gondola (on direct payment). Return to Srinagar in the evening.
Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3 : In Srinagar

After breakfast proceed on a city tour visiting the Shankracharya Temple situated atop a hill followed by the famous Mughal Gardens – Chasmashahi, Nishad and Shalimar.
The Shankaracharya Temple, is also known as the Jyesteshwara temple or Pas-Pahar. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located on the summit of the same name and overlooks the town of Srinagar. The temple dates back to 200 BC, although the present structure dates back to the 9th century AD. This temple was visited by the Adishankaracharya and has ever since been associated with him. Furthermore, it is regarded as being sacred by Buddhists, who call the mandir “Pas-Pahar.”
The gardens were where Mughal emperors once relaxed with their exquisite queens and even today are popular picnic spots. These gardens are every travellers delight with beautifully laid out manicured gardens, vibrant flowerbeds, terraced lawns and long stretches of cascading fountains.
Also visit the local handicrafts shops where you can purchase local hand crafted items – shawls, jackets, bed covers, paper mache, carpets and much more!
Return to the hotel / houseboat . Rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities.

Day 4 : In Srinagar

Today, after breakfast, proceed for a day excursion to Pahalgam, the ‘valley of shepherds’ which is situated at the confluence of the streams flowing from the River Lidder and Sheshnag Lake.
En route visit the Awantipura Ruins, an 1100 year old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and built by King Awantivarman.
It is believed that the temple of Awantipura bears the imprints of rulers who dominated the land of Jammu & Kashmir 1100 years ago. Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are known to be the two prime deities of the temple of Awantipura.
Pahalgam is a popular tourist destination. This world famous hill station is located on the banks of river Lidder at an altitude of 7200 ft. from sea level. It It is a popular place for shooting of Bollywood films and a health resort.
Pahalgam is also associated with the annual Amarnath Yatra. Chandanwari ,16 km from Pahalgam, is the starting point of the yatra that takes place every year in the month of Sawan (July to August).
Take short treks in Pahalgam. Return to Srinagar in the evening.

Day 5 : Depart Srinagar and Return Home with Happy Memories

Today bid farewell to your ‘Magical Kashmir Monsoon’ tour, as you are transferred to Srinagar airport for your onward journey.
